Like covalent bonds, our first limited collection is about strong connections: between science and craft, tradition and innovation, knitter and fibre.
Inspired by the wild beauty of the Scottish Borders, where we do our dyeing, Covalent Colours offers five softly saturated hues — dyed using our proprietary, plant-based technology. But we know it takes more than just great dyes to make a great yarn. To this end we've paired our dyes with an exquisite blend of Shetland and Bluefaced Leicester wool.
Made entirely in Great Britain, from British wool to British-made dyes, each hank is kinder to the environment and built to endure. Our colours won’t fade in sunlight or bleed in the wash — so what you cast on with is what stays.

I am knitting a cardigan with it doubled with mohair yarn. The knitted up fabric is a dream. Electron Cloud is a soft and lovely colour. The yarn has a nice, soft bounce, and it doesn't split while knitting making it a joy to knit with.
Electron Cloud is a subtle, light grey. It knits up evenly and the colourfastness is impressive—even after blocking.
It’s rare to find such nuance in a natural dye. I paired it with undyed wool for contrast and it just pops. Will be buying again!
